During the 17th FINA World Championships this facility will feature FINA Market which serves three major functions (in addition to compliance with FINA requirement): there will be cultural, culinary and family events organised in this area.

After the World Championships FINA Market will be eliminated and the area will be restored. In the course of restoration, a park and walking paths by the beach will be built, in addition, service facilities, four pools and the thermal pools will be renovated, as well.

Being renovated

The new 50m pool will be finished serving as a competition venue during the FINA World Masters Championships and the 25m pool will also be renovated.

The old central facility will get new look, its summer entrance will feature a bicycle store.

At the site of the old office building a new facility will be established for health and wellness purposes.

After the World Championships

The remaining elements of the development, including the final arrangement of the beach and the execution of the covered passage connecting the beach and the arena will be completed in the second phase between autumn 2017 and spring 2018, after the World Championships ended.

As a result of the development the modern Dagály Beach -complying with 21st century requirements, offering complementary functions to those of Danube Arena- will be open to the public from the 2018 beach season.

Renovation process:

50m pool: The current 50m pool will be demolished, the new pool will be built slightly lifted compared to the level of the current one. To the east side of the pool, a public space will be established cornered by a snack bar on the south and grassy sun terraces on the north. Thanks to the raised level, the swimming guests will have a chance to see the panorama on the Danube.

25m pool: There will be an extensive barrier-free area established from the new 25m long, 22m wide and 2.2m deep pool to the main building.

Iconic elements of the building – the architecture of the Népfürdő street side facade, the connected curved staircases and the circular viewing terrace will be retained and the main entrance will be renewed with a new, harmonic character.

The new wing planned at the site of the old office building will feature a 290 sqm wellness and a 300 sqm health department. The wellness department will offer Finnish, steam and infrared sauna, tepidarium and massage services. People seeking cures can benefit from high-frequency treatments, different bath therapies, magneto and electrotherapies as well as medical massages.

On the southern side of the beach under the existing trees an almost 2000 sqm parkland will feature a „Danube Pirate” themed playground. According to plans the playground will consist of three parts. Smaller kids can play in pirate- themed bouncing castles, nest swings and on sunken trampolines; older children can „resist pirate attacks” in the village of grass huts on the sandy area evoking the atmosphere of the Danube embankment and thirdly, there will be a field with grass for playing ball games and relaxing. The playground will be barrier-free. The rotary swing can also be used by disabled children. The playground is accessible not only from the beach, but from outside, from the Danube embankment, too. Barrier-free bathrooms by the playground are available from both areas.

On the grassy area to the south of the 25m pool a summer campsite for children will be established with wooden pavilions.

The basketball court will be renovate and the popular outdoor fitness equipment will be reloacted and retained. Two new sandy beach volleyball courts will be created: a smaller for children and a bigger one suitable for beach football and volleyball too.
